Jihad dipped the face of Evelyn Boakye, a subordinate into blended pepper
A district court has handed a nine month imprisonment sentence to the Lebanese supervisor of Marwako restaurant in Accra, Jihad Chaaban.
The presiding judge Victoria Efua Ghansah delivering her judgment said she was fully convinced by the the prosecution that the accused indeed committed the offence.
She further rejected the terms of settlement by the two parties presented by the defence stating the matter before her was criminal and not a civil one of which the settlement represented.
The judge also cautioned employers to ensure they treat their workers well and stop the harsh treatment meted out to them.
Jihad Chaaban in February grabbed the neck of Evelyn Boakye and dipped her face into a jar of blended pepper.
Chaaban was also charged with offensive conduct by calling the victim a prostitute and intentionally and unlawfully causing harm and assault.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
